Priti Sinha is one of the finest Bishnupriya Manipuri folk singers. She is originally from Hingala (Dullabcherra) Karimganj. She popularised folk music in the Bishnupriya Manipuri Community. She is also a great stage performer and has performed in various places in India and Bangladesh.

Early Life: Priti Sinha is the daughter of Shri. Premananda Singha, who was a school teacher and a Bishnupriya Manipuri lyricist. Her mother Smt. Namita Singha was her first inspiration who introduced and encouraged her to follow the path of the music world. She married Mr. Tridip Singha, a businessman from Patharkandi in 1997.

Education: Priti Sinha did her education till HSSLC and pursued her higher education in Music. She did her “Sangeet Visharad” from Lucknow University (1993). She did her “Lok Geeti” (Folk Singing) education from Rabindra Bharati University (Kolkata). Also, she pursued her music education from Manipuri Nortonalaya, Silchar (2011).

Career: Priti’s first career started as a child artist in AIR, Silchar. She was into folk music from a very early age (9 Years) and continued to work with AIR for a long time as a Bengali Folk musician. She also learned classical music under her mentor and Guruji Raja Singha and Monindra Singha.

Achievements: Priti Sinha has performed in many shows in Assam, Tripura, and Bangladesh. Her performance in Bangladesh was loved by the people so much that she almost did more than ten shows/concerts in Bangladesh alone. She is thankful to three prominent personalities in the Bishnupriya Manipuri Community who helped her in achieving success and popularity. A political leader of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community Kartik Sena Sinha helped her in releasing her first music album “Naachne Jadumoni” based on ” Bishnupriya Manipuri Kholik Songs”. She has worked majorly with Chandrakanti Sinha, a popular Bishnupriya Manipuri Lyricist, Composer, Singer, and Producer from Hingala with whom she produced the maximum number of Bishnupriya Manipuri music albums and produced more than fifteen albums together. One of the most popular albums of them together was “Purnimar Junak”. Later on, she worked with L.L Productions owned by Prabhas Kanti Sinha, a producer of Bishnupriya Manipuri Community who produced two of her albums “Premor Taale Taale” and “Elar Jaka”. L.L Productions managed Priti’s second tour to Bangladesh in Nov 2012 where she participated in a few other concerts.

Popular Songs: Some of her popular Bishnupriya Manipuri songs are “Kirou Tar Oporup Ruphan”, “Thoigoh Thuk Thuk Korer”, “Jagah Jagah Jagah Fordia”, “Bhagyabati Ima Sudeshna” and many. She also sings in other languages like Hindi, Sufi, Assamese, Goalparia Folk Songs. She has also worked in a show for DDK (NE) and in an Assamese serial “ Keechudi Kham Ba“.
